Mr. Tanner came to America in the year 1854 and settled in New Jersey and came to Indiana in 1861 and has since made his home here. He was the third child in a family of nine children. Mr. Tanner was of a very cheerful nature and quiet disposition, and as far as was in his power, kind to all men, and a firm believer in God.
There remains to mourn his departure: one brother, Joseph Tanner, of Lowell, and three sisters, Elizabeth Griesel, of Pawnee, Okla.; Emma Sill*, of Wolcott, Ind.; and Mrs. Mary Gore, of Lowell, also a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted in the Christian church in Lowell, by Rev. E.S. Worley, of Sheldon, Ill. Music was furnished by Mrs. Grace McCarty and Forest Griesel, with Mrs. Forest Griesel at the piano. Interment was made in the Lowell cemetery. The entire community sympathizes with relatives, realizing all shall come to this hour.
* NOTE -- The last name of Emma Sill was spelled "Sell" in the obituary of Joseph Tanner.
