Gertrude, youngest daughter of George and Mary Peterson, was born in Lowell April 2, 1895. She died in Gary, March 24, 1919, leaving her husband, Claude Sanders, three children -- Loraine Rodgers, by a former marriage, age 6, Thelma, age 3, and George William, 12 days old, her mother, Mrs. Mary Peterson, of Lowell, four brothers -- Henry, of Lowell, Owen, Valparaiso, Harry, Schneider, and Edward, Shelby, two sisters -- Mrs. Bessie Bisig of Chicago Heights, and Mrs. Edith Britten, of North Judson, and one half-sister, Mrs. Emma Slocomb, of Lowell.
She was married to Claude Sanders at Crown Point, September 21, 1914. She was a good wife and mother, careful and anxious about her children and her heart was good and true. She was seriously ill but a very few minutes and slipped away so suddenly.
Her aged mother mourns the loss of her two youngest children within five months, her son William having died in the service of his country.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. church last Thursday afternoon. Rev. C.A. Brown preached the sermon. Interment, in charge of Undertaker Weaver, was made in Lowell cemetery.
