Solomon Zuvers was born in Southern Indiana, May 21, 1821. He came as a youth, fifteen years of age, with his parents in 1836, to this county; the Claim Register record is from Bartholomew county. He enlisted as a soldier for the Mexican War, but was not mustered into the service as that war soon closed. He was married on Christmas Eve, 1848, to Miss Sabrina Hall. Mrs. Zuvers and three children are living, and he has left six grand-children. He was a member of Company D, 15th Ill. Infantry, in the Secession War. He was discharged in August 1865, and in his home at Merrillville he has been "a great but patient sufferer" ever since, until death released him, Nov. 4, 1898, at 1:50 in the morning. He will . . .
