Two years ago Mr. Clark, then, superintendent of Lowell High, had some of the campus prepared for tennis courts. The sod was scraped off, the ground dragged and rolled, and the courts were in splendid condition. Material such as nets, back-stops, etc., were purchased and it was hoped that L.H.S. would soon have a tennis team to win it fame as basketball had done, However, the game failed to appeal to the student body and little response was given to the courts.
The next year nothing was done with tennis, though everyone looked forward to the basketball and track teams, but in the year '21-'22 the courts were again put in condition and we noticed that a great deal on interest was then taken in the game. Of course now we are looking forward to the developing of some tennis champions and we are almost positive that this can be done this spring.
Heretofore we have had two courts, but now are preparing a third. The privilege of using the courts is restricted to Athletic Association members only, and, since everyone has a chance to join the association and the fees are very small, there is no reason why all cannot participate in the game.
