The following Sept. 21, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2 column 4:
Edward Wood, who is about to take the fatal step, was very pleasantly surprised at the home of his brother, Roy E. Wood, last Friday evening, where he was honored with a shower by his "male" friends. Ed received many useful and novel gifts, some unmentionable, and refreshments, mostly liquid, enlivened the party. Hours later the guests finally departed, wishing him a happy married life.
