The drowning occurred at about 4:30. Elsie Kara, 11 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kara, of 6000 South San Francisco Avenue, Chicago, and Delia, the eight year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Sulista, residing on the Crown Point-Cedar Lake highway, were the little girls who lost their lives when they went bathing with a number of friends. The Kara girl had been visiting friends at the Lake and was intending to return to her home the next day. She and the other little girl were wading in the water and stepped off a ledge in to deep water, and being unable to swim they sank and were drowned before help could be given to rescue them. Both bodies were in the water more than thirty minutes and all efforts with the pulmotor were useless.
The bodies were taken to Crown Point and were prepared for burial. The run from Crown Point with the pulmotor was made in seven minutes, but unfortunately nothing could be accomplished in restoring when it arrived. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday at 2 p.m.
