Kenneth J. Stone

Awarded American Campaign Medal

With U.S. Forces in Trieste -- Kenneth J. Stone, son of Mrs. Helen E. Stone, Route 1, Lake Village, was recently promoted to corporal while serving with U.S. forces in Trieste.

A free territory established between Italy and Yugoslavia after World War II, Trieste is under the jurisdiction of the United Nation's Security Council.

It is garrisoned by troops from the United States, Great Britain and Yugoslavia.

Cpl. Stone, who entered the Army in November 1949, is now serving in the 517th Engineer Combat Company and has been awarded the American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon.
