George J. Stark, 77, of Valparaiso, formerly of Lowell, IN, passed away
at his residence Tuesday, September 14, 1999. He was retired after 37
years of service from U.S. Steel as a Motor Inspector. He was a member
of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Valparaiso, the Catholic Order of
Foresters, a World War II Army Veteran and a former member of the Holy
Name Society. Preceded in death by seven infant children. Survived by
his loving wife, Elsie E. Stark of Valparaiso; six children, Anne Marie
(Michael) Varichak of Griffith, Arlene (William) Carr of Valparaiso,
Ruth (Dale) Brown of Dayton, OH, Christine (Dennis) Anderson of
Middletown, OH, Francis Stark of Miller Beach, Jerry (Patricia) Stark of
Murray, KY; seven grandchildren, Bill Carr, Michael and Jonathon
Anderson, Neil Brown, Robert and David Varichak, and Alisha Stark; two
sisters, Faith (Verle) Little of Hebron and Dolores Fitzgerald of
Lowell; one brother, Bertram Stark of Lowell.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 18, 1999, at 9:15 a.m.
from the Geisen Funeral Home, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, 10 a.m. Mass
of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Valparaiso.
Rev. David H. Gosnell officiating. Entombment to follow at Graceland
Cemetery. Friends may call at the Geisen Funeral Home on Thursday from
6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 2 to 8 p.m. A Wake Service will be held Friday
at 5 p.m. In memory of Mr. Stark memorial donations may be made to the
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
