The Ray Stahls have just received a letter from their son, T/5 Leonard Stahl, who has been transferred from North Africa to the Italian war zone, in which he told of the great surprise he had just before writing when he accidently met his brother, Cpl. Bernard Stahl, who has been stationed in Italy for some time. Leonard said both he and Bernard were well.
This April 13, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 2 :
Sgt. Leonard Stahl, who has spent the past year with the U.S. forces in North Africa and Italy, is home on a 30-day furlough with his parents, the Ray Stahls. Leonard is mighty happy to be on this side of the Atlantic once more.
The Stahls received a letter from the son Cpl. Leonard Stahl, stationed in italy. He said he was getting along fine and enjoying a 5-day pass when he wrote.
[Note that while the paragraphs seem to be about two different sons, "Leonard" is the name used for both in the article. The son still in Italy is probably George Bernard Stahl, who died a few months later in Italy.]

T/4 Leonard Stahl is home, having been discharged from the service last week. He had been stationed at Ft. Knox, Ky., for some time since returning from overseas.
