When a small girl she moved with her parents to Blue Island, Ill., where she lived for many years.
On the 5th of July, 1865, she was united in marriage to Alexander Christie who died on March 9, 1906. To this union seven children were born, two daughters and five sons; five of them have gone on before her. She was married a second time to H.P. Smith, who has also preceded her in death within the last year.
One daughter, Mrs. C.W. Dunn, of Hebron, and one son, George E. Christie, of Hammond; one sister, Clara Williams, of San Bernardine, Calif.; three grand-children, Fay Christie, of Enderling, N.D.; Mrs. J.H. Salyer, of Hammond, Ind.; Mrs. H.W. Biselburg, of Hebron, and many other loved ones and friends remain to mourn her loss.
She has been a Christian for many years, having joined the Methodist church at Tefft, Indiana, in 1892. She was a mother with a cheerful disposition and her Christ was always revealed in her life.
