This January 7, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
A letter received by Fred Eilers informs him that another Lowell boy, Pvt. John W. Rowenski, is now in the coast artillery. He is stationed at Fort Rosecrans, Calif. John writes that he is getting along fine and enjoying army life. He worked for Mr. Eilers for five years prior to his induction.
The following April 5, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 2:
Here from Texas
Pvt. John Rowinski was here the past three weeks visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eilers. John worked for Mr. Eilers for six years on his farm before going to the army. He has returned to Camp Bowie, Texas, where he is stationed.
