This August 23, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
Paul Dierks, Bob Spry, Bobby Hancock and Dick Ready left last Wednesday for naval duty. Dierks enlisted in the navy and was sent to Great Lakes for his "boot" training. Spry, Ready and Hancock enlisted in the naval reserves and are now at home awaiting call.
This November 1, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
Robert Spry and Dick Ready, who enlisted in the naval reserve Aug. 1st, were called for duty last Friday. They have been sent to Camp Petty, Va., where they will take their "boot" training.
This May 9, 1946, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 5, column 5:
S 1/c Bob Spry and S 1/c Dick Ready, stationed at Norfolk, Va., and Washington, D.C. respectively, were home for a week end visit with their parents.
