The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a street length dress of cloud-white faille. Her accessories combined red and cloud-white. She wore a single white orchid corsage.
Her attendant, Miss Helen Powell of Detroit, wore a gold faille dress of similar style with peacock blue and black accessories. Her corsage was also a white orchid.
The groom's attendant was James Brookes of Detroit.
Immediately following the ceremony a reception was held at the east side home of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Powell. Other guests were Captain and Mrs. Hubert Long, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Reid, Mrs. Lucy Barber, Frank Warren and the Misses June Carpenter and Virginia Reiberg.
The week before the wedding, Barbara was the honored guest at a dinner and personal shower in the home of the Paul Reids and June Carpenter.
The new Mrs. Quivey graduated from Lowell high school with the class of 1948. She is now finishing her studies in occupational therapy at Wayne University in Detroit.
Mr. Quivey graduated from Lowell high school with the class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army a number of years after graduation and is now managing a branch of the St. Joseph County Farm Bureau Cooperative at New Carlisle, Indiana.
