Word received by the Frank Patzes, informs them that their son, Hayden Patz. S c/2, has been transferred from Camp Frankfort, Va., to Port Hueneme, Calif.

Hayden Home on Furlough

Hayden Patz, S 2/c, has been enjoying a weeks furlough at the home of his parents here. He leaves Saturday night for Gulfport, Miss.

Writes He is O.K.

Hayden Patz, S 2/c, writes his parents, the Frank Patz' from Camp Bradford, Va., that he is getting along fine.

A letter received by the Frank Patz' from their son, Hayden Patz, S 2/c, says they have landed on a beautiful island "somewhere" and that he is getting along fine.

Sgt. Richard (Dick) Schmal, stationed in Hawaii, recently had a very pleasant surprise, according to a letter to his father, Fred Schmal. Dick was enjoying himself at a roller rink and suddenly discovered that he was skating side by side with Seaman Hayden Patz. The boys had a very pleasant visit. Later Dick met up with Bruce Rathburn, T.M. 3/c and Capt. G.A. Dinwiddie.

Phones from Hawaii

Miss Dorothy Hathaway, assistant head nurse at Evanston, Ill., hospital, experienced a thrill she will long remember when she received a phone call last week from Hayden Patz, who is stationed in Hawaii. Hayden, who hasn't been home for 19 months, says he is feeling fine and getting along nicely, although he would enjoy a trip home.

Hayden Patz, with the U.S. fleet in the South Pacific, writes his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Patz, that he has been promoted to Machinist's Mate 3/c. Hayden may be home on leave in the near future.

Hayden Patz, F 1/c, arrived home Monday on a 30-day leave, after spending two years overseas.

Hayden Patz, M.M.3/c, who had concluded a 30-day leave at home, returned to duty last week, reporting at Camp Clark, California.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hathaway have returned from Hayward, Calif., where they spent the past three weeks with their daughter, Mrs. Hayden Patz, and husband. They accompanied Mrs. Patz there as soon as her husband found a place to live. Hayden is still in the navy, where he will be for some time yet.

Two local boys who have seen much service in the Pacific theatre of war have received their discharges the past week.

S/Sgt. Robert (Bud) Hoffman arrived home last week from the west coast, after receiving his discharge from the army.

A letter from the navy personnel officer at Shoemaker, Calif., on Monday informed us that Hayden Patz, MM 2/c had received his discharge from the navy.

Mr. and Mrs. Hayden Patz arrived here from California last Saturday. Hayden received his discharge from the navy ten days ago. He had been stationed in California since returning from overseas duty some months ago.
