This unidentified newspaper article, hand-dated Nov. 1913, was found in a scrapbook owned by Town Historian Richard Schmal:
While John Miller was working at the emery wheel in his blacksmith shop last Thursday evening, a piece of the wheel flew and hit him in the eye. It did not hurt him much at the time and he did not go to a doctor until morning. When he did see a doctor, he removed a piece of the stone from his eye. It laid him up from work for a few days, but he is getting along all right now.
