The following April 22, 1943, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 3, column 3:

Cpl. William "Bill" Langen, with the air corps ground crew, was transferred recently to Boca Raton Field, Fla., where he is taking an eight weeks course in advance radio school. Cpl. Langen writes that in spite of the mosquitoes, which are as large as P-38's, and very unfriendly to strangers, everything is going along fine.
This March 30, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
Sgt. William J. Langen, son of the James Langens, who is stationed in Panama, writes that he is getting along fine in spite of extremely hot weather and mosquitoes as big as bats.
The following August 10, 1944, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 4, column 1:
Promoted to S/Sgt.
Mr. and Mrs. James Langen, Lowell, have received word from their son, William, stationed in the Panama Canal Zone, stating that he has been promoted to Staff Sergeant. Having already been in the service nearly two years, S/Sgt. Langen is hoping for a furlough soon.
This Lowell Tribune article was found in the February 15, 1945, issue (page 6, column 4):
WELL KNOWN YOUNG COUPLE MARRIED FEB. 7
Ila Louise, youngest daughter of William Harper, and T/Sgt. William J. Langen, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Langen, were united in marriage in an impressive ceremony at St. Patrick's church, Momence, last Wednesday morning, Feb. 7th. The single ring ceremony was read by Rev. T.V. Demaris at 9:30 a.m., in the presence of family members and many friends of the young couple.
The bride's sister, Miss Annabelle, and Joan LaBeau, served as bridesmaid and junior bridesmaid. Raephael Ponto, of St. George, Ill., was best man.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a floor-length gown of white moire taffeta made with a sweeping train. Her finger-tip veil was held in place by a pearl tiara. She carried a white prayer book, marked with white ribbon streamers and a white orchid.
The bridesmaid and junior bridesmaid had identical frocks of brocaded taffeta and tulle of aqua and flesh color, respectively. With them they wore matching feather and flower hats and flower muffs.
After a wedding breakfast at Eagle Island and a reception that afternoon the couple left for a honeymoon.
The bride was graduated from Lowell high school in 1942 and from a beauty school in Bloomington. She assisted her sister, Annabelle in the Rachael beauty shop in Momence.
Sgt. Langen is also a graduate of Lowell high, a member of the class of 1941. Before entering the service he was employed with the Sinclair Oil company here. He is now home on furlough from Panama, where he spent nearly two years, When he returns there at the end of thirty days, his bride will remain in Momence.
Guests from Cedar Lake, Peoria, Lowell and Bloomington, were present for the wedding and reception.
This March 1, 1945, Lowell Tribune article was found on page 2, column 1:
After spending a 30-day furlough at home here, T/Sgt. William Langen has returned to his post in Panama. Bill went by train to Miami, Fla., and took a plane from there to his post. His wife remained in Momence.
