The following Lowell Tribune news item was hand-dated Aug. 2, 1928:
HENRY LAMBERT BRINGS SAMPLE TO THIS OFFICE
Henry Lambert has broght to this office a root and stalk of the poisonous Water Hemlock that grows in the marsh or any low ground where there is plenty of moisture. The root and blossom of this weed are deadly poison and only a short time ago several horses died at Rensselaer from eating the blossom of this weed.
The water hemlock has a root similar to the dahlia bulb. We invite those interested to come either to this office or the Lowell National bank where they can see the poisonous weed and destroy any they may find on their land before any damage is done from stock eating the blossom or root.
