December 21, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Eliza C. Wright. To this union were born three children: Mrs. Elmer Roberts, of Shelby; Melville Jones, of South Mills, north Carolina, and Mrs. Cass Cross of Shelby.
The deceased had been a faithful member of Shelby lodge, No. 742, I.O.O.F. for seventeen years.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, three children, nine grandchildren, one brother, Joseph A., of Thorntown, Ind., and one sister, and two brothers preceded him to the Great Beyond.
Funeral services were conducted at the Shelby Christian church on October 6th at 2 p.m. Rev. F.B. Nickerson, of Lowell, conducted the service. The following acted as pall-bearers: Homer Sapp, George Stowell, George Regnier, Joe B. Curtis, Joe Curtis, Floyd Stowell.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tanner, of Gifford, Ind.
We wish to thank our friends and neighbors also the Shelby Odd Fellows for their kindness to us during the sickness and death of our dear husband and father. We also thank those who gave flowers and furnished autos, those who sang and the minister for his words of comfort. Your kindness will always be remembered.
