DEATH OF MRS. MARGARET HEISER
A long and useful life came to a close early Sunday morning when death called Mrs. Margaret Heiser, a member of one of Lake county's pioneer families and one of Crown Point's most respected women. Death was due to asthma and heart failure with a slight attack of paralysis as a contributing factor. Born near Hanover Center, over eighty years ago, Mrs. Heiser spent all of her life in Lake county, and in its entirety it was a life of helpful service to those about her. She was married to Peter M. Heiser, some sixty years ago, he preceded her in death over thirty-five years ago. She and her husband managed one of Crown Point's first hotels, the Hieser Hotel being one of [the] best known hostelries in Lake county. Following her husband's death she managed the hotel for a time and then retired to the residence where her death occurred. Mrs. Heiser was an indefatigable worker and was never so happy as when rendering service to others.
She leaves to mourn her death, three sons, John of Detroit, Henri of Lowell, Geroge of Hammond, and one daughter, Mrs. Nettie Slayton of Crown Point. She was a sister of Joseph P. Peter, Nick and Geo. Young, the latter of St. Cloud, Minnesota, and of Mrs. L.D. Cresson, Mrs. James Merritt and Mrs. Nick Gard. Several grand children survive her.
She was a devout member of St. Mary's church, from where the funeral services took place this Thursday morning at nine o'clock.
