He was united in marriage with Julia A. Clement, January 26, 1872. To this union were born five children, Amenzo L., Ella M., Henry, Bert D. and Lydia L. Two children, Ella M. and Henry, died in infancy. In 1875 Mr. Hayden with his family moved to Iowa, where they resided for seven years and then returned to Indiana and settled in their home just south of Lowell, where they lived for several years. In 1902 they moved to Lowell and January 11, 1905, his wife, Julia A., passed away.
Mr. Hayden resided in Lowell until the spring of 1913, when he went to make his home with his son, Bert D., and family, during which time he has been a patient sufferer. Mr. Hayden has been a prominent farmer, a good citizen and a faithful father. He passed peacefully away October 21, 1914, aged 65 years, 7 months and 20 days.
His funeral was held at the home of his son, Bert D., Friday at 2 p.m. and was attended by a large number of his old neighbors and friends. Rev. Servies preached the funeral sermon. Rev. Servies and S.C. Pletcher sang several songs. Interment in the Lowell cemetery. Undertaker Weaver had charge of the burial service. The following acted as pall bearers: Nelson Hayden, Hermie Hayden, Bert D. Hayden, Roy Pattee, Jodie Hayden, Emory Collins. To the bereaved family sincere sympathy is extended.
