Gertrude McCann was born in New York March 13, 1844, and was married to James E. Hale February 22, 1866. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hale, of which five survive to mourn the death of the wife and mother.
These children are John C. Hale, former village clerk, of Horth Chicago; A.A. Hale, village treasurer of that township; J.R. Hale, North Chicago; Mrs. Ferry, of North Chicago; and Mrs. E.E. Sisson, of Chicago.
The funeral will be held from the residence Thursday morning, and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Although a great sufferer for many years, Mrs. Hale bore her burden cheerfully, and was honored and respected by all who knew her. -- The Waukegan Daily Gazette, January 24, 1905.
Mrs. Hale passed most of her life in or near Lowell and was a lady very highly respected by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. The TRIBUNE extends to the bereaved husband and children sincere sympathy in their hour of deepest sorrow and bereavement.
