The following article was found in the Nov. 2, 1916, Lowell Tribune on
page 4, column 4:
Some miscreant stole a lot of groceries out of Vern Dyer's automobile
last Saturday night. Vern says it was not the value of the groceries so
much as the way the fellow took to get them that makes him mad.
However, he says, if the party wants to steal more he will have them in
his machine next Saturday night, but if the fellow is really in need of
something to eat, if he will go to Vern he will buy him some groceries
and he will not have to steal them.
