The following unidentified newspaper article was found in a scrapbook owned by Betty Burton of Lowell:
Enoch Cox was born near Indianapolis, Ind., February 20, 1829, and died of a complication of diseases at his home in Lowell, Ind., September 23, 1903, at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 26 days. He was twice married. To the first union six children were born, four of which survive their father; Miles, Luther and Ellwood, of Westfield, Ind., and Ambrose, of Lowell. He was married to his now bereaved wife in 1867. To this union one child, a son, was born, he dying in infancy. He and his wife came from North Liberty, Ind., to Lowell in December 1875, since which time he has made his home among us. He was a man of quiet and unassuming demeanor, honorable, honest and industrious, which qualities made for him friends of all whom he came in contact. Truly a good man has fallen. His funeral occurred from his late home at 10 a.m. Friday. It was his request that Rev. D.D. Hoagland conduct the service, which consisted of a prayer, a short talk by Mr. Hoagland and a song by Mrs. J.W. Belshaw and sister Miss Ida Hoshaw. John Castle had charge of the burial service. Interment in the Lowell cemetery. P.D. Clark, Y.C. Vosburg, G.W. Davis, J.J. Purdy, W.C. Nichols and H.H. Ragon acted as pall bearers.
He leaves his wife, four sons, several grand-children and numerous friends to mourn him, to whom the TRIBUNE extends sympathy in their deep affliction.
