William Ray "Bill" Brown

Bill Brown, U.S. Navy, Dies of Heart Attack Aboard the Skywatcher

William Ray Brown, 23, of the U.S. Navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Leonard Brown of Lake Dalecarlia, died very suddenly of a heart attack at 11:30 p.m., December 21 as he stood watch aboard the U.S. Skywatcher. The ship was returning to the States and Bill would have been discharged on February 2, after four years of service with the Navy. His parents were planning to meet him in Florida for a vacation together.

Bill was born October 13, 1933, and was educated in Chicago schools. His father is assistant treasurer and traffic manager of Globe Siding Products Company's Whiting plant. He formerly was with Globe's Lowell plant, and Bill was employed with Globe prior to his service with the Navy.

Surviving besides his parents are his wife, Carol, a sister, Mrs. Jean Tremulis of Evanston, and his maternal grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. R.J. Black of Peoria, Ill.

Memorial services and interment will be in Peoria.
