Coming to this country in an early day she went through all the hardships of pioneer life. She was a woman who was always of a happy disposition and always had a kind word for everyone. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother and a good neighbor. She lived with her husband and family on their West Creek farm until about thirty years ago when they moved to Lowell, where she has since resided. Her husband passed to the great beyond five years ago, since which time she has lived with her son, Milo. At an early age she confessed her faith in her Christ and at the time of her death she was a member of the Lowell M.E. church. She has always lived a consistent Christian life. It can be truly said the world is better off for her having lived in it. Mrs. Brannon was a fine seamstress and leaves many pieces of her handiwork to her children.
About thirteen weeks ago she fell and broke her hip and has been confined to her bed ever since. She suffered a great deal, but she bore her suffering without a murmur, and was always cheerful.
She leaves to mourn her, 7 children, 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Mrs. Hiram Storrs, of Edgar, Nebr., and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Tuesday at 2 p.m. and were attended by a large number of her old neighbors and friends who gathered to pay their last respects. Rev. V.B. Servies, pastor of the church preached the funeral sermon. Mrs. J.W. Belshaw and Mrs. Eldon Hayhurst and Rev. Servies sang several songs. Interment was made in mausoleum. Undertaker Weaver had charge of the burial service. The following neighbors acted as pall bearers: Homer Stowell, Ed Wheeler, Frank Plummer, S.C. Pletcher, B.F. Carlin and C.F. Dickinson. A telegram was received from the children in Montana expressing their regret that they could not get here for the funeral service.
Another article lists Sallie Taylor Brannon's birth date as April 2, 1827, rather than Apr. 6 of that year.
