January 17, 1876, he was united in marriage to Miss Rosena Shupert, and to this union twelve children were born. He lived in West Creek township nearly all his life until a year ago last spring he bought property and moved to Lowell to make his future home. He was a man who had a wide acquaintance all over the county and had a large circle of friends. He was a kind husband and father.
His funeral was held Wednesday afternoon. There was a short service at the home at 12:30, and at 1 o'clock the funeral procession proceeded to the German Methodist church in West Creek township, where funeral services were held. Rev. Heileman, pastor of the German Methodist church at Crown Point, preached the funeral sermon. Mrs. Heileman and daughter furnished the music. Interment was made in the cemetery adjoining the church. Undertaker Weaver had charge of the burial service.
The deceased was a member of the Crown Point Court of Foresters and of Hawthorne Arbor of Gleaners, and a large number of the members of both orders attended the funeral services. The funeral was largely attended by his former friends and neighbors, who gathered to pay their last respects to a departed friend.
He leaves to mourn him, his wife, eight children -- Mrs. Clara Livingston, of Cedar Lake, Leopold and Arthur Bixenman; Mrs. R. Piper, of Chicago; Mrs. Bernie Buckley, Mrs. John Miller and Misses Henrietta and Isabel Bixenman, several grand-children and other relatives and friends. To the bereaved family we extend our heartfelt sympathy in their dark hour of sorrow.
