George Berg

Tuesday night, someone evidently tried to get playful with George Berg's truck while it was parked in his garage in the alley by the postoffice, although the results weren't very funny. Smelling burning rubber, he investigated and found that someone had set fire to one of the tires. The heavy fender deflected the flames and saved the truck from burning, but the tire was a total loss and some parts of the truck body near the fender were badly scorched.

Lowell Resident Dies In Home Wednesday; Body Found Sunday

George Berg, age 63, was found dead in his home at 1:00 P.M. Sunday by Arne Carlson, who had gone to the Berg home on business and had entered the trailer when no one answered his knock at the door.

Carlson phoned John Eskridge who put in a call to the Deputy Coroner. Cause of the death was pronounced as coronary occlusion. Time of death was determined as sometime last Wednesday night. The body was found in bed, and was later removed to the Eskridge Funeral home.

Mr. Berg had recently returned from a trip to Iowa and was last seen Tuesday, January 22. He was known to have traveled often, and no one noticed his absence since Tueday, presuming him to be away on another trip.

Survivors

Survivors include three brothers and six sisters: Mrs. Emma Madsen, of Spencer, Iowa; Mrs. Edna Youde, also of Spencer; Mrs. Dorothy Freeberg, of Garvin, Minn.; Mrs. Clara Kruse, Royal, Iowa; Mrs. Mary Lane, Peterson, Iowa; and Mrs. Alice Jensen, of Minneapolis. Brothers are: Clarence, of Peterson, Iowa; Walter, also of Peterson; and Arthur of Cleghorn, Iowa.

Services were held Wednesday, at 2:30 P.M. in the Eskridge Funeral home, with the Reverend E. L. Worley officiating. Burial was in the Lowell cemetery.

Mr. Berg was a former owner of the Lowell Well and Pump Company.
